Occupational Therapy

We support children and adults to build independence in everyday tasks and improve quality of life.

Occupational Therapists help people achieve independence in their everyday tasks - their “occupations”. Our therapists assess the person, environment and the “occupation”/task to see what intervention is required to achieve independence.

While we specialise in paediatric occupational therapy, our team also supports adults facing a wide range of challenges. We’re here to help you overcome obstacles, regain independence, and enhance your quality of life, so you can focus on what truly matters.

Occupational Therapy for kids

Fine Motor Skills:

Help develop hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and precision needed for tasks like buttoning shirts, using utensils, and drawing, through tailored exercises and activities.

Sensory Processing:

Our senses are what connect us with the outside world. Sometimes, the information coming in from the world is overwhelming (too much to process) or underwhelming (not enough). Occupational Therapists help us find that ‘just right balance’ which is important for behaviour, learning, emotional regulation, attention, and our overall state of calm.

Handwriting:

Handwriting should be pain-free and legible (easy to read). Many factors may impact handwriting from posture, dexterity, fine motor skills, visual perception, muscle tone, eye hand coordination and much more. A range of assessments are used to identify the area’s affecting handwriting and set goals to work on these areas one fun activity at a time.

Play Skills:

Learning to play is a skill, and learning to play with those our age is a goal many parents and educators have for their children. We can help develop healthy play patterns and transfer these skills to the classroom or a play date through encouraging interaction, imagination, and problem-solving, while supporting sensory and emotional regulation during playtime.

Self-care Skills:

Enhance independence in daily tasks like dressing, grooming, bathing, and feeding by breaking down tasks into manageable steps and using adaptive strategies or tools.

Equipment Prescription:

Independence comes in many different ways. Sometimes mobility is not only about walking independently, but about reaching a destination in the best way you can. Our Occupational Therapists can prescribe wheelchairs, beds, mattresses, scooters and even car hoists.

Home Modifications:

Occupational Therapists assess the home environment to make sure it is accessible and safe. Our assessments include detailed drawings and recommendations which are used in our detailed reports. Our reports can be used for submissions to housing agencies, the NDIS or other government bodies.

Functional Capacity Assessments:

A process designed to help you and your healthcare team understand what kinds of daily tasks and work activities are most comfortable and manageable for you. It focuses on identifying your strengths—such as how long you can walk, stand, lift, or sit—and finding ways to support your ability to move safely and effectively through your day. Helpful if you're returning to work, recovering from an injury, or managing a long-term condition.
